Facebook will eat your email

A friend sent to me an email the other day. It had a typed message, and linked to the message was a link to a video that is central to a recent controversy. This email was sent via Facebook. I received an e-mail notification of this Facebook message via my e-mail account which uses the same server as this blog.

I still have the e-mail notification in the trash in the program I use. But when I go to my Facebook messages, the message and link are gone. There is nothing but a blank entry with the sender’s name and profile picture with a time stamp on the right. Not only was the link scrubbed by Facebook, but the entire content of the message is gone as well.

Interestingly, past messages between this friend and I that link to torrents on Pirate Bay are still intact. Curiously captured and scrubbed is a link to this video and the content of the message.

Facebook is not only reading your emails, but they are eating them, too.
